Lokahi Lodge

The check-in was straightforward, and the rooms were spacious with great amenities. It’s very close to the volcano, so I’d recommend this lodge for an overnight stay near Volcanoes National Park.

It’s only a two-minute drive to the Volcano park entrance, and I liked being able to refill shampoo or pick up towels in the lobby whenever needed. The room was very clean overall. Soundproofing could be better, though. We heard loud coughing and muffled conversation, which was a bit disturbing, even though we weren’t in the room much. The bathroom felt somewhat dated, and the shower water flow was very low.

We were on the bottom floor, and the people above us made loud footsteps from 3 am. My sister and I got no sleep, even though we had a long drive the next day. The place itself is great, and the location works well for seeing the volcano, but noise from upstairs can mean you don’t get proper rest. The owner should have strict rules for people in the upstairs room and make the noise expectations very clear. I wouldn’t return because I don’t want lack of sleep to ruin my vacation.

This is an unmanned lodge, so the experience is more like staying in an Airbnb. It was very quiet, with quaint decor, modern updated bathrooms, and a huge shower. There was a little kitchenette stocked with plates and cutlery.
