Makena Surf Resort #F-212 by Ali'i Resorts

The place is a bit pricey, but the ocean view is amazing. The pool is lovely and the grounds are carefully maintained. The beach is under five minutes from the resort, with soft sand and mostly gentle waves. Most mornings we saw a few boats out front, with snorkelers exploring the rock formations for turtles. On many days we could see turtles from our lanai.

The beach was ideal for families, quiet and beautiful, with soft sand, waves that were fun to play in, calm water for floating, and spectacular sunsets. We stayed through Airbnb at this lovely resort. The pools and hot tubs were clean and beautiful too. Our only downside was the long walk back and forth to the condo whenever we needed something, though at least it got our steps in!

We stayed in F304, a comfortable condo stocked with everything we needed, and the view was hard to beat. Every unit faces the ocean with a wide panoramic outlook. The reef just off the resort was wonderful for snorkeling, with lots of green sea turtles, and we also saw whales from our lanai. The resort beach conditions were incredible, and it was a perfect home base for our family of four during a week on Maui. This isn't a full-service hotel, so I'm giving service four stars. The staff who look after the property were kind and did a great job. Our contacts at Coral Tree Residences also replied quickly whenever we had questions by text. We'll definitely return on our next Maui trip.

The gardens and grounds are stunningly designed. I could wander around the property and feel like I was in paradise. The shoreline location is beautiful, though you will see a few tiny bugs. They spray, but I think they could do it more often, especially with the water right there and all the gardens. It didn't spoil the experience for me, and small bugs don't bother me. Maybe that's why they come to clean the condo every two days. My room, F304, had a fantastic ocean view, a spacious deck and rooms, and lovely design. The location is simply amazing. I believe it's a Hyatt property, so I expected better toilet paper and Kleenex. I had to buy my own toilet paper because I'm very sensitive. 😂 A couple of things for management: please check that rooms are fully cleared before the next guest. There were several little dirty socks in a drawer that looked like they belonged to the previous guest's children. Also, inspect everything to make sure it's working before arrival. The internet was a disaster for the first seven days of my 15-day stay. It turned out the modem wasn't plugged in, and there wasn't even a cord available to connect it to the outlet. Once we figured that out, the connection was still very slow. The maintenance tech was excellent and worked with me to troubleshoot. He eventually upgraded the modem, and now it's super fast. He understood the problem from the start and only contacted me when he had a solution, without pestering me every day. I'd stay here again. I'm only taking off a star because management should improve its inspections a little.
