Kauai Coast at the Beachboy

After more than 30 years as owners, my parents came here expecting an ADA room because my dad has stage four cancer and needs a walker or wheelchair to get around. My mom had requested one, but we were given a regular room with only a shower chair. Even the maintenance crew trying to put in bathroom bars said they didn't trust the room's safety. We've now been told on two different days that we can move once an ADA room opens up. Until then, I guess we're just hoping Dad doesn't get hurt. Kauai coast 🤷🏼‍♀️

The beach is just about 30 meters from the pool, with clear water and yellowish sand, and there's a pool bar plus pools for kids. The apartment itself was spotless and had huge rooms, a roomy bathroom with two sinks, and a washer, dryer, dishwasher, microwave, big cooker, and a large fridge and freezer with a great ice maker. Everything felt thought through. The air conditioning kept every room comfortable without blowing cold air into one spot. There were two TVs and more than 100 channels. We slept three, including our two-year-old, in the super king bed and all slept well, though the pillows might feel firm to some people. After a bit of a nightmare stay in Honolulu, this felt like paradise. It's probably the best place we've stayed, even compared with plenty of 4-star-plus hotels. Such a good setup for families with kids. Love it, keep it up!

The concierge was more hassle than help for us. They insisted everyone staying in the room come with ID to get bracelets, said it wasn't about timeshares, then tried to sell us a timeshare and handed over only two bracelets. We were told they had to be worn around the property, but, well, get outta here. We never needed or used them. The location is good otherwise. Just be aware the floors between the three-story rooms are paper thin. If people above you aren't quiet walkers, you'll hear them all the time, at any hour.

We've stayed here twice now and are already planning another visit. The location is hard to beat, with the ocean right there and Coconut Marketplace across the parking lot. Staff are really friendly and ready to help. They joined the two twin beds for us to make king beds, and the linens have always been fresh and clean. Our unit also had a washer and dryer, which was so handy. The rooms are great, though keep in mind there are no elevators to the upper floors. The body wash, shampoo, and conditioner were good too, so no need to pack your own.
