Best Western Warren Hotel

The hotel was only about ten minutes from home, which was convenient for a birthday getaway with my daughters, but we won't stay again. The TV just flickered, the pool was over capacity and much smaller than the pictures, and the hallways smelled like marijuana. Other guests were extremely loud and rambunctious past midnight. I alerted staff several times, but nothing changed. Check-in felt like dealing with an unfriendly, slightly passive-aggressive Secretary of State or DMV employee, though maybe he was having a rough day or didn't like his job. I've stayed in very cheap motels that were better. I can imagine this being fine for people coming to party without worrying about rules or noise. Younger me might have liked it, but if you need sleep, it depends why you're here. Bachelor party, yes. Business or family trip, no. Some may say guest behavior isn't the staff's fault, but I think they have a responsibility to enforce rules so everyone can get some peace and quiet.

We arrived in the middle of the night, and since I'm not from the area, I was unsure where to stay. This place felt safe: it was clean and well lit, with no bugs or strange people hanging around, and I felt fine leaving my car there. Our room had a clean, working jacuzzi tub. The room could use updating, but it was clean and you get what you pay for. Breakfast was decent, customer service was great, and it seemed pretty kid friendly too. A good option if you're in a pinch or need a last-minute place for the night.

There are several stores and restaurants nearby, which was the only convenient thing about this hotel. Staff seem friendly until you complain or ask for your deposit back. This isn't a place to get rest or relax. People drop kids off for unsupervised hotel parties. If you check in, use cash for the deposit. They give it right back, but when you pay by card, they'll try their best not to return it.

The noise and the way staff handled us made this the worst hotel I've ever stayed at, out of well over 100. We have a toddler who woke up crying in the night, and within five minutes a security guard was pounding on our door, demanding that we be quiet. He was rude and interrupted me repeatedly when I tried to explain it was our child and we were doing our best. Hallways were noisy at all hours, packed with adults and children running around, and we heard knocking that sounded like it was on our door as early as 7 a.m. The rooms were poorly cleaned, and the whole place smelled like cheap cleaner and weed. At check-in, one employee watched me wait at the desk for a few minutes before helping. A guest told the front desk there was blood in the pool area, and none of the staff seemed concerned. Only one employee seemed knowledgeable or capable. I wouldn't recommend this place or return, even for free or paid stays.
