Cinderella Motel

The owner was pleasant when I booked, but the room stayed at 99 degrees. I waited for the AC to cool it down, and it never did. When I called, he insisted it was just the weather and that the unit worked. My kids’ faces and mine were red from the heat, so I packed our things and left for somewhere else. If you’re okay sleeping in a room around 100 degrees, book it. Otherwise, don’t.

For $80 a night, the room was what I’d expect from a budget motel in Wasco. The AC worked, and there was a microwave, stand-up shower, cable TV, Wi-Fi, plenty of parking, and stores nearby. The bed was pretty comfortable, too. The father was understanding, and the rest of the family caused no problems, but the daughter made us feel unwelcome. She gave my girlfriend, our guests, and me nasty looks and rude responses during our two-day stay. We didn’t ask for towels and used our own. I woke up late and asked for a late checkout. I was allowed half an hour, but before that time was up, she was yelling outside at my guests to leave. Maybe no one told her about the extension, but I went out and said she was being rude. She makes you feel like you can’t ask her anything. If the father and the rest of the family hadn’t been decent, I’d have given one star. Stay away from the daughter and ask for the dad. If she didn’t deal with guests, the place might have a better reputation. 2.5 stars.

Inside, it was clean and safe, with no odd activity or noise keeping me from resting. The room was large for the low price, the bed had no smell, and neither did the bathroom. There’s a microwave and small fridge, and the motel sits on the main street, close to plenty of restaurants and a market. The outside isn’t much to look at, just like another village motel, but this one really deserves four stars.

I brought disinfectant to spray around the room, but still found hair on the pillows and stains on the sheets. The outside looked okay, though the motel itself wasn’t great. I was quoted one price by phone and paid 70 on arrival. I wasn’t happy with the stay. Best Western is across the street, so pay the extra 4 for a better room. This place needs a full remodel.
