Courtyard by Marriott Washington, DC/Foggy Bottom

On Friday evening there was no hot water. When we asked, the staff were rude and dismissive, with no apology, and kept saying none of the guests had hot water as if that made it acceptable. We stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott Foggy Bottom from Friday 1/22 through Saturday 1/24/2026. At arrival, we were told maintenance meant there would be no water from 10 AM to 2 PM, Friday through Sunday. We hadn't been told in advance and weren't offered the option to cancel or pick another hotel. For nearly $500 for two nights, it's unacceptable to have no hot water and limited water access, then be treated as if this is normal. The outage was bad enough, but the lack of communication and unprofessional staff attitude made it worse.

We stayed here because it was about a 7 minute walk to Dar Constitution Hall for a concert. The room had good space for my husband and me, with a couch and TV, and the furniture was nice. I was impressed by how clean both the lobby and our room were. The valet was $56/night with in and out privileges, but I don't recommend using it. I believe the garage is run by another company unaffiliated with Marriott. When we checked out at 8am, no valet staff had arrived for their shift. A woman at the front desk had to look for our key, and we had to find the car ourselves in the garage. We weren't charged the parking fee because the valet staff were absent. There are garages within a half mile, so you have other options. We thought we were paying for convenience, but that isn't the service we got.

Nice hotel, but for the price and location I expected more. We were here for a concert at Constitution Hall, about an 8 minute walk away. I thought I’d paid extra for a city view, but my room looked onto a courtyard. I’m waiting to hear from the hotel whether I actually paid for a view I didn’t get. Checkout was noon, yet someone knocked at our door at ten fifteen. I should have put out the do not disturb sign. Also, there were no coffee cups in the room, so I had to go down to reception and wait while someone else checked in before I could ask for them. Don’t use the valet, it’s almost sixty dollars for overnight parking. I’d stay again, but park off-site and hang the do not disturb sign.

Jada was especially kind and went out of her way to help us. All the staff were welcoming, friendly, and very helpful. The room was spacious, and the hotel was very clean.
