District Hotel

I always book refundable so I can have peace of mind, even if it costs more upfront. I booked this room through booking.com for Feb 11-14 2026, and never once was I told it was non-refundable. When my disabled daughter became terribly ill a week before the trip, I immediately tried to cancel or change the dates through both booking.com and the hotel. They refused. I can understand that if I canceled at the last minute or simply didn't show, but that wasn't what happened. I'm very disappointed with the management and with booking.com. This place seems to be taking part in a scam. Don't book here. Even if I'd gone and stayed, it sounds like it would've been a bad experience.

The showers had good water pressure, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The location felt safe and lively, with busy, well-lit streets between the hostel and the National Mall. We could walk there and back even late at night. My friend and I first stayed in the single room, then moved to a double when another friend joined us. The single was quite small but had what we needed; the double was a lot more spacious and worked well for three college girls on a budget for a weekend in DC. For the price range, this definitely deserves five stars. I really enjoyed our stay.

The internet was a pain to log into, so I gave up and used my hotspot. Apart from that, it was a nice place to stay. The rooms were clean, and the hotel is a nice, historic property with basic accommodation for tourists.

Food delivery was another hassle: the drivers couldn't find the hotel and even left my meal at the neighboring hotel. The room was unbearably hot because the air conditioning didn't work. After I complained, they moved me to a different room, but the whole ordeal was exhausting after a long trip and tiring day. Check-in had already started badly. I'd booked online and arrived on my reservation date, but the receptionist said the booking was under another name and told me to contact the booking company. I had to call and prove the reservation before they finally gave me a room. One of the worst hotel experiences I've had. I wouldn't recommend it.
