Having lived in DC for years, we know the city well, and The Jefferson is still one of its finest addresses. The location is ideal, and the hotel combines full-service luxury with a rare boutique feel. It has the grandeur of a big hotel without ever feeling impersonal. We booked through Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts and made the most of the perks, though the property stands on its own. The whole team was outstanding, from the bellmen and front desk to every host and hostess we met. From arrival, service was exceptional: fresh water at check-in, a wonderful room upgrade, and every special request handled without hesitation. We’ll absolutely return.

This is our favorite hotel in DC. The location is great, the rooms are beautiful and have all the comforts you need, and the service is exceptional. The restaurant, bar, and morning coffee in the library are lovely extras. Highly recommend for a romantic weekend with your partner.

The Book Room was a favorite spot for us, with its colonial-style library feel and books signed by people who have stayed at The Jefferson. On Saturday mornings, the hotel historian is there to answer questions and point out interesting details. There are also historic documents near reception, including papers signed by Thomas Jefferson and a salary cheque for his coachman. We found the hotel well placed for getting around Washington. On foot in good weather, or a 5-10 minute cab, Uber, or Lyft ride to places like the White House, Capitol, Georgetown, the Smithsonian museums, Kennedy Center, and good restaurants. Our room was comfortable and a good size, with a roomy bathroom and lovely linens. The staff made the stay, though. The doormen, bell staff, and reception team were attentive from the start, and Shannon and Ryan were among the people who looked after us so well. We enjoyed breakfast at the Greenhouse Restaurant, especially the weekend brunch and its cast iron baked eggs. Weekday breakfasts were memorable too. The Quill Bar was a nice intimate place for a nightcap, with the same excellent service.

The Greenhouse Room at The Jefferson made a beautiful setting for my daughter's wedding reception. It’s historic, in great condition, and the food and service were both impeccable. Chris, the Events Manager, was a pleasure to work with. The creative suggestions and support helped bring my daughter's wedding plans to life. I’m grateful to Chris and the whole staff for making the reception such a memorable, perfect occasion.

The food was amazing, and the stay felt so relaxing because the service was so good. The staff were kind and understated, and seemed to know what we needed before we had to ask. It was an absolute five-star experience. Honestly, just book it if you're considering a visit and want to have a great time. Though maybe keep it to yourself, I liked how uncrowded it was.
