Sofitel Washington DC Lafayette Square

The room had a fridge but no microwave, so ask ahead if either appliance matters to you. I liked the coffee machine, and the bathroom was really comfortable with nice interior design. The location and service were both great. They even let us into our room super early because of our All Accor membership, which was a lovely surprise.

I was glad the staff checked with me the next morning about a $300 restaurant charge and removed it from my bill. It seemed someone had gotten my room number and last name and used them to charge it. The room itself was comfortable and well appointed, and the location is handy for major attractions and good restaurants. Check-in was okay, though valet took over 15 minutes when there didn't seem to be any other cars. I was also disappointed by the room service food, especially given that it wasn't inexpensive.

The room stayed clean and well kept, and on the third day housekeeping replaced the sofa, whose leather had been worn. It was nice to see the property being maintained. My only room complaint was that the shower pressure was a little weak. The location is close to everything but on a quiet street, so it was easy to rest. Housekeeping starts around 9 a.m., so hang the “Do Not Disturb” sign beforehand if you plan to get ready later. The male front desk staff member who greeted me was patient and very kind while I was flustered about a card payment issue. He made my first impression of Washington wonderful. I had a lovely stay and would gladly return.

This was my first time at Sofitel Washington, and it went beyond what I expected. The calm atmosphere, elegant feel, color choices, refined décor, beautiful restaurant, and great location all made the stay a pleasure from arrival to departure. I'm a Platinum member of one of the major hotel groups, but I still plan to choose this hotel when I come back to Washington. It'll be my first choice.
