The Mayflower Hotel, Autograph Collection

This historic hotel is a short walk from the White House, Capitol, and the Monument. There’s major construction around the White House, so if seeing it is your plan, it may be best to come another time. The Milkin Center of the American Dream Museum is also nearby on foot. It’s a new, free museum and it’s amazing. Our suite was beautiful, with a comfortable bed, a big closet, a hotel robe, and huge TVs. The ballroom has hosted Presidents’ inaugural balls. Nixon and Truman stayed there, and Mbers of the Kennedy family stay there too when they’re in town for events. The staff were very friendly, especially RAPHAEL, the doorman. He was such a nice guy. We’ll definitely come back and stay again.

The Mayflower keeps its 1920s character while adding the modern high-tech amenities you’d expect after its recent renovations. Its location is a big plus too, just a few blocks from the White House, the National Mall, major museums and monuments, and the business district. A great fit if you like historic hotels and a classic upscale DC stay.

The service stood out throughout our visit. Everyone, from the front desk to the car valet, was friendly and helpful, and check-in was quick. Our room was ready early, which made it much easier to get ready for our event. We had a quiet, comfortable one-bedroom suite with a king bed. It was spacious and clean, and I especially liked the faux fireplace and in-room coffee maker. The 24-hour fitness center was fantastic for a workout. This is a beautiful landmark hotel, opened in 1925, and the holiday photos really show it off. We had a lovely stay in this piece of history.

I was driving to the hotel for the Amnesty International conference when the doorman first pointed me toward a garage around the corner. Just as I was about to turn, he caught up with me to say he’d found a free spot on the corner instead, then helped me pull in safely. I really appreciated that thoughtful service. It let me make the most of the conference.
