The Westin Washington, D.C. City Center

The bed and pillows were comfortable, and the hotel was less busy than the Westin beside the Conference Center where my associates stayed. My suite was spacious, though it showed its age with peeling wallpaper and dated furniture. At night, sounds from the atrium bar came through the window and sliding glass doors. What cost it another star was the staff's handling of my federal tax exemption certificate. I’ve used it on business trips for my not-for-profit company at numerous hotels, but after several attempts they still wouldn’t accept it and charged my business tax. I was in town for a conference with several associates who had the same certificate, and their hotels applied it without trouble, including the Westin at the conference center.

Everything worked as it should, and the property's organization and upkeep made for an easy, enjoyable stay. It was a memorable experience, with comfortable, clean rooms and excellent service.

The bedding was the part I couldn't get out of my mind. I hadn't pulled the sheets back before I returned that night, and they looked badly slept in, with the color turning. Maybe it’s time for new bedding inventory, but I had to work on getting past it before I could sleep. You all had declared my other room grievance an emergency and apologized by email. The Westin DC City Center has been my main hotel for DC travels for 10 years. At this point it feels like home, and when I tell friends I’m coming into DC, they already know where to find me. I came for my birthday and The Boy is Mine concert on 11/30. The guest service team suggested Kitchen + Kocktails for birthday brunch, and it was fantastic. The staff are friendly, the lobby is beautiful, and it’s easy to get around on foot. John, GM, I’m sorry I missed the survey window. Thanks for reaching out, and I hope this review will do.

We booked a King Room, but it was extremely basic and felt more like a 2-star hotel than a 4-star one. There were several visible stains on the sheets, which was unacceptable and made the room feel unclean. The location is great and the staff were generally polite, but poor transparency and noise overshadowed the stay. We weren’t told at booking that the lobby was being renovated. An email came only after the reservation was confirmed. I called right away to cancel, but the manager assured us there’d be no dust or noise during our visit. That was completely untrue. Around 7:00 AM, loud construction started, with hammering and what sounded like wall demolition. We couldn’t sleep. After we called the front desk, it stopped for about 30 minutes, then started again. The poor room condition, misleading renovation information, and early morning construction made this a frustrating stay. It doesn’t live up to the Westin name or a 4-star rating, and I wouldn’t stay here again.
