Mat-Su Resort

The rooms are clean, but watch your step in winter, the parking lot turns into a sheet of ice. The resort itself is nice. Late check-in needs to be arranged ahead of time, though. If you arrive at 10pm without sorting that out, call them or you're SOL.

A classy place, at least for me. Really nice upscale stay, with a great bar and good food.

The view was wonderful, but tall grasses beside the porch table reached its height, so I couldn't sit in the chair and enjoy it. The room was bad in every other way. Housekeeping was the first problem: the sheets looked like they'd just been turned over from the previous guest. The coffee maker was faulty and overflowed. We were dropped off here on a tour, and I regret not getting a taxi to another place. I couldn't have done worse.

I could get to shops and restaurants quickly by car, and there's a restaurant next door, though it was closed for two of the days I stayed, so I can't comment on the service. My room was quaint, quiet in March with hardly anyone around, and nicely set up with a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and small kitchen area. The lake view was nice even frozen. I bet it's gorgeous in summer when you can kayak and paddleboard. I'd stay again if I'm back in the area.
