Courtyard Waterloo Cedar Falls

There isn’t much within walking distance apart from the John Deere Museum, and that’s about the only real drawback. The connected restaurant is pretty decent. Rooms are large with high ceilings, and mine had no HVAC or cleaning problems. It’s a distinctive place to stay around here, and I’d come back.

Starbeck’s is a great addition, the elevators are really quick, and there are plenty of parking spots. The rooms are decent, but the bathrooms weren’t very clean. The shower heads were fully rusted and didn’t spray right. Beds are comfortable, though the “king” felt more like an oversized queen. The desks are awkward, with another table underneath, and there wasn’t much staff around. As a Marriott Gold Elite, I’d give it 3 out of 5. It works for a night, but feels made for sleeping and heading out, not getting work done.

The bartender was outstanding on New Year’s Eve, and the same guy was wonderful taking breakfast orders the next morning. I wish I’d gotten his name. Our room was clean, had high ceilings, and was quiet. The kids also enjoyed the nice pool, and breakfast was excellent. We’ll definitely stay again.

The spacious rooms felt comfortable and well cared for, with a mini-fridge and coffee machine. There’s no microwave in the rooms, though guests can use one near reception. Drinking water isn’t stocked automatically, but staff will bring it if you ask. The gym and indoor pool were both nice, and the little grocery shop by reception was handy for snacks or things you forgot. Parking was ample, and checkout went smoothly. The front desk lady was especially helpful. The hotel is in a historic building with an industrial look; the lobby is modern and has lots of places to sit, while the upper walls in rooms and shared areas felt plain to some guests. Breakfast at the Bistro can be limited, and vegans may need to think carefully to find options. It felt clean and safe, with a premium sort of comfort. A solid stay, especially if you’re after room to spread out. If you’re looking for luxury, plan for it.
