The setting is lovely, with convenient, ample parking, a cute little downtown square for shops and gifts, and The Coyote Grill at the end of the road is great. But our two-bedroom unit was old and outdated, with an uncomfortable couch and bed, and the dishwasher didn’t work during our week there. If you have mobility issues, it’s a definite no: the only bathrooms are in the upstairs and downstairs bedrooms, with none on the main floor. The threat of a $150 fine if we didn’t do our own housekeeping became a running joke. There are lots of rules about making guests do the work, and I’m definitely not coming back.

We still make the trip from New York every year and hope to keep coming to The Inns of Waterville Valley well into retirement. We’ve owned two weeks here since 2004. My husband has been coming since he was 16, and his parents were among the original owners. Our boys always looked forward to the annual Waterville trip as they grew up. For our family, The Inns has consistently been clean, welcoming, and well managed, and it’s a great base for enjoying all that NH has to offer. I’ve attached a few photos taken around Waterville Valley, including a moose we spotted along Tripoli Road. We’ve seen black bears several times over the years, but never managed to get one on camera.

For what they charge, the rooms are far too dated and dirty. The beds up top aren’t proper beds, and there weren’t any blankets. I wouldn’t stay here again. I’d give it zero stars if that were an option.

I’m an owner of a prime summer week and have a two-bedroom unit that sleeps eight. I’ll use it for exchanges while I can, but if I come to this area otherwise, I’ll stay somewhere else to get a decent night’s sleep. Maybe I’ll try again in four years and the beds will have been updated. Unit 201 smelled musty, and the tub flooring needs refinishing. The beds need updating too. The master bed is small and crinkles, and with the stiff white cotton sheets and comforter, I felt like I was in a hospital. The white dishes, stove burners that don’t sit flat, and old but working refrigerator didn’t help. The couch and chair looked dirty, had lost their stuffing, and were very uncomfortable. The front deck needs repairs soon. The lobby furniture was the most comfortable seating. There are good hiking trails and a cute town square, but if you can’t sleep well, you don’t want to return.

The place had a horrible old smell, worn carpets, and chipped paint. The tubs were moldy, and there was no hot water, so the advertised whirlpool tub was no use for a cold bath. The appliances looked like they were from the 1990s, nearly harvest gold in color.
