Super 8 Watseka

The constant noise was my biggest problem. Other residents and staff were loud during the day and night, and a couple of nights each week staff banged and tossed furniture around while people were trying to sleep. With such thin walls and floors, they should be more considerate. Their child also ran back and forth upstairs for ages. At $81 a night, I shouldn't have to listen to that ruckus. There were bugs almost every day, including what seemed to be wolf or forest spiders, centipedes, and June bugs. I'm easily grossed out by bugs, so that was a dealbreaker. Staff also got very nosy. Two of them kept following me around, even when I was just catching up with someone I knew outside. The area is next to a gas station, and people who seemed strung out came around the back and sides of the buildings looking for cigarettes or money. If you're staying here with family, I'd be wary about letting children outside. The WiFi barely worked, too, which made it poor value for the money, even for the few days I stayed. It wasn't the worst place, but it definitely wasn't good. They need to address these problems.

The room didn't feel clean at all. Dust was visible on the dresser, chairs, and nightstands, and the sheets weren't changed when they needed to be. One day, maintenance knocked on my door three different times because they wanted to clean. Not a clean hotel.

We found live bed bugs as soon as we lifted the top two sheets, including one crawling on a pillow. We took that pillow to the front desk to show the employees. They said nothing to us and immediately started speaking to each other in a language we didn't understand. When we asked for a refund, they refused because we'd booked through a third party. We contacted the third party right away, and they said the hotel had to issue the refund, but the hotel still wouldn't. My family had booked this Super 8 in Watseka, IL three weeks ahead, and nobody mentioned bed bugs before we arrived or at check-in. The whole place smelled musty and disgusting as soon as we walked in. Finding the bugs was beyond gross. It feels like they know about the problem and won't fix it. This place should be investigated and shut down. Do not stay here. Bed bug infestation!

I was stranded late at night when my car broke down and needed a room, and they held their last one for me. Check-in was polite and quick, and the facilities turned out better than I'd expected. The room wasn't fancy, but it was spacious, clean, and had a fridge, microwave, iron and ironing board, plus quiet, effective heating and AC. Bathroom fixtures were in good shape. Towels were fresh, though there weren't many. Breakfast was free and fairly complete for a budget hotel. The eating area was small but clean, and the food was fresh. WiFi was free and worked well. Checkout was just as courteous and efficient. Clean, well managed, and a great value for its class.
