MainStay Suites Waukee - West Des Moines

Just great. The rooms and service were amazing, and ours had a full bathroom plus a full-size fridge, two-burner stove, microwave, and dishwasher.

The hotel was nice, with quiet rooms, very comfortable beds, and curtains that blocked all the light. Breakfast was adequate. We came for a concert at Vibrant Music Hall, and you can't cross straight over from the hotel. You have to walk to a traffic light, which doesn't seem far until you've spent five hours standing at a concert. I took off a star because our shower had hardly any water pressure. I asked the staff to check it while we were out, but nothing was done. They also didn't clean the room. Bring your own shampoo and conditioner.

My mom wasn't feeling well, so having a 24-hour Walgreens nearby was helpful. We slept well on the great mattress, and the spacious room had everything we needed, including an iron and ironing board. It was also very clean, with a full kitchen. We were on the second floor, and there was a new-house smell as we stepped out of the elevator. The free breakfast had a waffle maker, my favorite thing to find when traveling. There were both business and family travelers, and the pool looked inviting, though we didn't have time to use it. I loved our stay and will look for this hotel next time I travel west!

The room was fine, apart from the TV not working at first and the A/C giving us trouble on our last night. The ladies at the front desk were all very helpful, and I truly appreciate them. I'd definitely stay here again if I return to Des Moines.
