Holiday Inn Express Milwaukee-West Medical Center by IHG

We thought we’d left something in the room, and the person who answered the phone went up there to look for it. She’d already checked lost and found, and then checked whether the room had been cleaned yet. Really appreciate that effort above and beyond. I called around 8:30 p.m. on 6/2. Thanks again to whoever was on duty.

I’m from Chicago and recently met someone who lives here. The drive isn’t too bad. We’ve been staying at this hotel since October 2025, and I’ve been very pleased with the staff and how welcome they’ve made me feel. They’re so kind, fun to talk with, and now they know me whenever I come back. It was nice to learn the manager is from Chicago too, and chat with her about it for a bit. I’m glad I chose this hotel.

We’ve just closed on our new home, and day two is going fine. There’s a working mall nearby with about a dozen chain restaurants and an IMAX AMC Theater. The food service worker sets out a full breakfast buffet and gets no tips. There are cute premade cheese omelets, bacon, and an automatic pancake maker, which is much cleaner than having a bunch of people make waffles. The bathrooms really need to be redone, though. The toilet barely flushes unless you take the lid off, put it under the sink, and leave it there. The place has been redecorated and is very clean. Carolyn gave us a very kind greeting in proper Wisconsin fashion. Since she knew we were moving from Chicago, I wondered what people here might think of us big-city folks. We were, and it cost too much, so off to Wisconsin we go. Yippee. People here have old-fashioned politeness. It feels like a new planet or a backwards time machine, but things are so much cheaper than Chicago, and we were scared we’d never be able to retire. So far, it’s a hundred times better than the other reviews.

I usually like staying at Holiday Inn Express, but this one felt neglected and badly in need of upkeep and a deep clean. My room smelled noticeably of smoke, and there was visible wear everywhere, including wall hooks and shelves that had been ripped out. It was frustratingly hard to adjust the shower temperature, the heating and AC unit was incredibly loud all night, and the mini fridge seemed off balance, like it was missing parts.
