Iris Inn and Cabins

The Iris Inn had a warm, comfortable, laid-back feel, and we had a great stay. Our room was modern, very clean, and had expansive views. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and breakfast was included, freshly prepared, delicious, and well done. We'll be back.

My friend and I came to Iris Inn for a few days to rest and recharge, and stayed in the beautiful Deep Wood cottages. Everything felt clean and home-like, with quality throughout, and the Jacuzzi was well maintained. I loved that we could text to order dinner or ask if we needed anything. We booked the THERAPEUTIC SPA PACKAGE, and it was absolutely worth it. The massage therapist was amazing. If you're after first-class service, privacy, and a peaceful break, Iris Inn has all of that and more. We'll return!

Our cabin was warmly decorated, and we enjoyed the screened porch and hot tub. We also explored Shenandoah National Park, downtown Waynesboro, and Staunton, and the staff gave us great local restaurant recommendations. Linda greeted us warmly when we arrived, and everyone we met was amazing. Dinner at the Inn was delicious, as were all the breakfasts. Letty was a perfect, friendly hostess. We loved our three-day stay, highly recommend it, and found it a perfect getaway for us.

My wife and I booked two nights at the Iris Inn through Expedia because the listing said it was “dog friendly.” Later, the Inn messaged through Expedia to say that our booked room didn't allow pets, but that more expensive rooms did, and asked if we wanted to switch. I understand that, but the message went straight to my spam folder. I never saw it or replied, and it sat there for more than two months. Several weeks before the reservation, “Linda” called, supposedly to get a credit card for incidentals. I still have the voicemail. Asking for a card weeks early seemed unusual, but she didn't mention the pet issue in the voicemail or when I called her back. She knew I hadn't answered the Expedia message, and I don't understand why she didn't ask if I'd seen it. She had my number and had called me, so why not follow up with a simple phone call? I only found the Expedia note on check-in day, when I searched my email for the arrival instructions. I called in a panic. Linda said their pet-friendly rooms were sold out. I was hours from home with my dog and nowhere to stay, so I had to cancel. Linda and the Iris Inn kept the $846 cancellation fee, nearly a grand gone. All she had to do was say something. I'm just a regular person who lost $846 here, when they could have told me about the pet restriction while they had me on the phone weeks before the booking. Keep my experience in mind when choosing where to spend your money. This is what the Iris Inn is like, and this is the kind of person “Linda the innkeeper” is. You can use your money to reward good behavior or bad. That's your choice.
