AMERICAN BEAUTY - 5 Br Cabin

Jonathan's directions are the ones to follow. GPS can cause confusion getting to the cabin, while his directions will save you the trouble. We loved the changing mountain views, from a beautiful sunset to misty mornings and rain moving across the mountains. Inside, everything was spotless and organized, and the kitchen had what we needed. It was cozy and comfortable after time exploring the Smokies. A few appliances could use an upgrade. Jonathan and the volunteer cabin rentals team were helpful and responsive. When the AC had a problem at about 8:30 on Saturday night, maintenance showed up within 30-40 minutes. It made for a wonderful mountain getaway.

We spent five days here with our family, and the AC was already out when we arrived. We called the office again and again, but nobody came to fix it. A toilet kept running, and that never got repaired either. It was so hot that I tried opening a couple of windows for some cool mountain air, but there were no screens, and bugs were all around the lit windows at night. I found an oscillating fan in a closet, took it to my room, and it didn't work. Then I tried making a cold frappe in the provided blender. I put in ice and caramel iced coffee, and just as I was ready to pour it, the whole bottom fell off and spilled the drink across the kitchen floor. After waiting five years for this vacation, that's how it went. The place felt like a poorly maintained dump, and I'd strongly advise skipping it. I wouldn't send my worst enemy here. I suspect someone connected to the cabins may have submitted some of those 4.5-star reviews themselves. I don't think it deserves even one star. Learn from my mistake.

Getting there on that road felt scary and risky as a new driver, but the stay was worth it.

Really nice, though cabin prices are getting out of hand.
