This cabin is old and poorly maintained. I hate leaving a bad review, but it needs to be upgraded before it stays on the rental site. Several outlets and lights didn't work, and there are only two TVs. It's clearly an older cabin that needs updating.
We enjoyed our stay overall, but the lodge wasn't clean when we arrived. It seemed the previous guests hadn't left it as tidy as they should have, and it needs a thorough deep clean. Two toilets were also backed up and not working properly, which was inconvenient.
We spent most of our time chatting on the back porch and taking in the beautiful views. The kitchen is huge and set up to serve a banquet. There's also a private trail at the end of the driveway that makes for a great walk and connects to another lovely trail. You're close to stores, but still tucked into the woods and near trails. We'd definitely stay again. The showers are tiny, and there's no shampoo or conditioner, so bring your own.
We loved this cabin for a family birthday getaway. My significant other's family booked it, and 26 people slept there, with even more coming through during the day for activities. It's quaint, quiet, and relaxing, with plenty of parking. A hiking trail starts just past the cabin. The kitchen is large, has what you need to cook, and includes big tables for meals. The rooms are all decorated differently, and nearly every one has a bathroom either inside or right down the hall. Be ready for lots of stairs. The main entrance opens into a living room with a fireplace and comfortable couches. Stairs lead down to the dining room and kitchen, or up to another living area and then farther up to an observation room with lots of sun. Sliding glass doors around the property open onto porch levels. Our favorite spot was the TV and game room, where a long sectional fit all 26 of us with room to spare. We played board games, watched sports, used the arcade games for hours, and even held an informal church gathering there. The only downside was how creepy it got at night. The bathroom door in my room swung open by itself a couple of times, and the bathroom window kept opening too. One night, in room 13, I heard footsteps approach the door right next to my room, then loud banging that sounded like someone trying to get in. Everyone else was asleep, and I was the last one to bed. No one knows what happened. Even so, it's an awesome place to stay.
It feels large but dated, almost like staying in a place from the 1940s with Wi-Fi and a few other modern touches. I liked the comfortable bed, the laundry, and the generous supply of firewood for the fire pit. The pots and pans, especially the Teflon ones, were so worn we didn't want to use them. Most shower heads were only about five and a half feet high, and the showers were small, which made washing difficult.
