Shamrock Thistle & Crown B&B

There’s plenty of room both indoors and out, which makes this historic home a nice spot for groups. Built in 1881 and owned and managed by a family, it has bedrooms that each come with their own bathroom and TV.

We chose this place for our Wednesday staycation anniversary after spotting its sign on the drive by. We wanted something besides a generic hotel, and the house and grounds were beautiful. Brantley greeted us and showed us around. The two whirlpool rooms caught our eye, but we ultimately stayed in the back cottage with its private hot tub. We mostly spent time with Brantley and only briefly said hello to his wife. They were both very hospitable and kind. Breakfast was served at the time we chose, 9:30am: fruit and yogurt, juice, hot coffee with all the fixings, and French toast with bananas, whipped cream, nuts, powdered sugar, and syrup. We lingered over breakfast talking with Brantley, then left close to noon. We’ll definitely come back!

A household emergency meant I couldn’t stay at home that night, so after looking at nearby lodging, I took a chance and called Brantley at Shamrock, Thistle and Crown at 9:15pm. He was very accommodating. When I arrived at 10 PM, he met me at the door, carried my luggage upstairs, and helped me settle in. The room was spacious, and the bed was large and comfortable too. Breakfast was amazing. It was a great experience, and I’d highly recommend staying there. I’d return if the need came up. Thank you!

We’ve stayed here twice, and the second visit was every bit as lovely as the first. Ann and Brantley welcome you warmly and make it easy to feel at home. It’s a peaceful place to relax, with a comfortably decorated room, ensuite bathroom, and cozy shared spaces full of reading material. Breakfast was delicious, and they worked around my eating restrictions. I highly recommend it.
