The room itself was clean, and the bathroom had nice tile. The bedroom carpet, though, was old and pretty gross. I checked both beds for bedbugs and didn't see any live bugs, but there were a few old-looking fecal marks that seemed bleached or washed. I don't understand why they kept using that sheet.

The bed was dirty, with hair and dirt on it, and there was blood on the bed cover. We also found food and dirt behind the nightstand. I took pictures, and my fiance took pictures too. The floors hadn't been vacuumed when we came in. I'm a housekeeper and have been for over 20 years, but we let that go at first. I had brought a blanket because I had a bad feeling, so we put it underneath us and kept the other blankets from touching us. I didn't know how clean they were, and the room didn't look very clean from the start. When I went to the desk for clean sheets, the man and woman came to the door looking irritated. I had to knock or ring the bell since the desk was closed, my mistake. The man said the room and sheets were clean and tried to refuse me, even after I explained that I know what a clean bed looks like. I had to argue and defend myself just to get a sheet. He handed me one flat sheet for the whole bed and asked if we'd spilled something on it. We hadn't, it was dirty when we got there. He acted like I was lying or imagining it, and said the room was clean. The way they treated us was awful. The man was rude from the beginning, including at check-in, when he told me three times in two minutes not to smoke in the room. I'd already said the first time that I quit smoking over a year ago. It felt like he was calling guests liars. When I told him he was rude while he gave me the sheet, he said he was just tired because it was the middle of the night. It was five minutes to 11. I've worked front desk too, and being tired is no reason to treat paying customers disrespectfully or accuse them of things they didn't do and weren't going to do. I'm middle aged, and I've worked as a housekeeper, laundry worker, and run my own cleaning business before. These are the rudest, most unpleasant, accusatory man and woman I've dealt with at a hotel, whether they own or run the place. I hope checkout goes okay. If he charges my card or is rude again, I'll show him the pictures and tell him I want people to know how he treats guests. No one should have to beg for clean sheets or towels at a hotel, especially when paying almost $150 for one night. I could have had a $30 room that looked 30 times better. I will never recommend this place to anyone, ever. If you're looking for a hotel, read this and find somewhere much better.

The location was nice and service was average, but I was very disappointed with my stay. I thought the price was a little high for what you get, though that wasn't the main problem. The bathroom was more than disgusting. The shower was tiny, old, outdated, and dirty. The bed was less of an issue, and the walls were somewhat okay. I don't understand why motel owners don't fix up their bathrooms. It's one of the most important features. Make the bathroom bigger and the room smaller if needed, since you sleep in the room and clean up in the bathroom. Spend a little money renovating, charge $20 more a night, and customers would be happy to pay and leave satisfied in the morning, recommending the place to others. I only got two towels and had to wait 10 minutes after asking for two more. I hope they make improvements, since it would benefit them.

After they apologized for the earlier problem, I went back and stayed a night for free. The room was great, with an older style, and I appreciated their effort to make things right. That kind of response doesn't happen often these days, so I thanked them. This was an update to my earlier review about being asked for my service dog's papers. I couldn't stay unless I showed Butters' papers, and they wanted an extra $65 a night for her. The owner called and apologized a couple of times, then offered the free night. Later, I went to rent a room for a week, and they were rude as hell again. I wouldn't send anyone here. Go to Lodge or All Seasons in Woodsville NH, right across the bridge. It's not even a mile farther, and the service is much better, with no rudeness.

The decor is dated, but the service and cleanliness were excellent. The toilet had also been renovated recently, which I appreciated. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back. Great motel, and I'd recommend it to anyone.
