Coast Village Inn & Cottages

The owners were nice, and we appreciated that the room was clean, cozy, and air-conditioned. The place looks like a cute little spot from the outside. The rooms have been updated, mostly with a lot of flat white paint. Our front door stuck badly and was hard to open, and the old-style motel coffee maker barely made an eight-ounce cup. The girl who checked us in wasn't very friendly and spoke too quietly to hear well; she didn't seem suited to the job.

The room was decent and the beds were comfortable, and the bathroom had been nicely remodeled. The main problem was a sewage smell when we switched on the bathroom fan, though the bathroom itself seemed fine and I have no idea where it came from. The front door deadbolt also didn't work. We had a good stay overall, but if you're visiting on Jamaican independence day, be aware there may be loud, bass-heavy music for several hours from an employee party near the pool. It didn't affect our sleep, since they turned it off around 8 p.m.

James called to confirm I was coming, which was great customer service. The room and bed were extremely clean and neat, and the place smelled like log cabins. The price was great, and you get much more than you pay for.

A pool is available, though it closes at 7 p.m. The rooms have a microwave, mini fridge, and small TV. There have been some renovations since the owners took over a couple of years ago, and they say more are planned. The beds were soft. These rooms work well since most of the fun is outside anyway. The inn has a nice charm, and the location is great for a trip to Wells or Ogunquit, with a grocery store across the street for a quick stop.
