The bar was a nice extra, and the staff really stood out. We found this boutique hotel by chance and had a great time. It’s showing its age, but that’s part of its charm. One thing to plan for: the town closes up around 8 on Sunday night.

The rooms are clean, and the pool is surprisingly big for a hotel. We’ve stayed here so often that we know the staff, and it feels like coming home. Wellsboro is one of our favorite getaways, so we always choose this place. Shops and other spots are walkable, and the PA Grand Canyon is a short drive away. There are pet-friendly rooms too, so our Very Good Dog can come along. Already looking forward to the next trip!

The bill included dining charges I was overcharged for, and they wouldn’t correct it. The place itself is old and needs a rehab. The food was average at best, service dragged, and the staff weren’t friendly. Dave was especially grumpy. I don’t plan to come back.

We had a peaceful, quiet stay at the Penn Wells Lodge this November 2025, and I’d gladly return. Check-in was easy, and breakfast in the morning was good: eggs, bagels, sausage, toast, and coffee. There’s a Kuerig in the room. The microwave and Ice Machine are just outside in the hallway.

We had a really nice stay with our friends. The rooms were clean, and the staff were warm and friendly. Shops, restaurants, and bars are an easy walk from this great location. The pool area looked lovely too.
