Avenue Motel

We called ahead to reserve a room, but when we arrived the whole place smelled bad. The walls were dirty and looked like they hadn’t been painted in years. The pillowcases were dirty too, although at least the sheets were clean. There was caked dirt under the bathroom faucet and red marks on the toilet seat. We asked the manager at the front desk for at least a partial refund, and got very little help. I don’t recommend staying here.

The bed was clean, and the rooms are adorable. The motel has a lot of potential, but it would take work and creativity to improve it, and I don’t see that happening anytime soon. For what we paid, the room wasn’t nearly clean enough, even though the price was affordable. If I stayed again, I’d probably borrow the cleaning cart and take care of it myself.

The bathroom was even worse, with dust everywhere and a bunch of white stuff on the toilet. The room smelled strongly of smoke, the light was broken, and there was dust all over. The bed was disgusting, with holes in the blankets, holes in the sheets, and stains everywhere. The person at the front desk was snobby and unkind. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

There weren’t even towels by the sink, and the beds were hard with no extra pillows. Many of the outlets didn’t work. I booked two rooms and there was only one “muffin” for breakfast. The photos are fake, and the rooms are dark and dreary, with wood paneling. For an old, outdated hotel with no amenities, it was way overpriced.
