Holiday Inn Express & Suites Milwaukee West Allis

The beds were quite comfortable, though the room smelled a bit odd. The hotel itself looks fairly new and updated, and the staff were friendly enough. In my room, the shower ring was broken and housekeeping had left half a piece of bread under the desk. Those things alone don't bother me much, but they made me wonder what else might have been rushed or missed.

The building and room were great, but the check-in experience left us disappointed. Mr. Paco was rude when my friend gave her name and he said it wasn't in the system. After she showed her confirmation, he realized he'd checked someone else into our room. We waited in the lobby for 20 minutes while he tried to sort it out, then he gave us a discounted rate. Later my friend asked how to connect her Nintendo switch to the wifi, and he made a comment along the lines of, "I've never heard of anyone coming here to game." She found that rude. We were trying to get away from our kids, and what we do in a room we're paying for isn't his business. We never got the switch connected. We also couldn't work out how to turn off the headboard ambient light, since none of the switches were labeled, so we had to sleep with it on. My bedsheet was ripped as well. It could have been much better.

We had 24/7 access to good coffee, and the room, housekeeping and complimentary breakfast were all perfect. For the price, this place puts Marriott to shame. I may never rent a room there again.

The room was extremely worn and shabby, even though the exterior looked fairly new and the lobby and public areas showed traffic without looking especially beat up. The pillowcases were pilled, and the fake blanket, quilt and sheet set had what looked like spaghetti sauce or pizza sauce stains. The room smelled stale. When we ran the AC, it smelled dusty and rattled all night. The main walking paths on the floor were clean, but the areas off those paths were dingy and not clean. I went to the desk and was told housekeeping had left for the day and would handle it the next morning. They didn't get to it then either, supposedly because they were too busy. We stayed one more night, finished our business, and won't return to this sad place. We know someone from the hotel may reply with mock surprise and a link for us to repeat everything, then offer a discount or free night. We were there for two nights, and they should have made it right while we were there. That kind of response is only for people reading this review. Avoid this place.
