Days Inn & Suites Columbia Airport

The desk staff were wonderful, pleasant, and helpful, and it’s a convenient place for a one-night stop on the way elsewhere. The dog cost only $20, and there are new mattresses. I hope the renovations they’re starting will spruce it up. The room had several rough spots: it was dark and needed better lighting; the curtain had clearly seen better days and was begging to be retired, probably without honors. The faux plank floor in our ADA room needed a serious mopping. Veneer was peeling off one nightstand, there was a burn hole in the bedspread despite this being a non-smoking room, and the fridge cabinet had years of water gunk at the bottom from different fridges sitting there.

Room 119 was horrible. I booked a non-smoking room but got one that seemed to be a smoking room, yellowed and smelling like an ashtray. The floors were filthy and unmopped, and the fire alarm was covered. The front desk didn’t want to help and wouldn’t even give me the manager’s name or contact information. This is the most disgusting place I’ve ever stayed.

Shannon was friendly and accommodating, and the jacuzzi tub was absolutely wonderful. But for over $130 for a Saturday night, I was disappointed by the room. There were large burn holes in the bedspread of a non-smoking room, right below the pillow. Housekeeping must have seen them, and my hand hit one as I put my purse on the bed. A small stain was also right by the pillow on the otherwise pristine, very soft bottom sheet. If they’d turned the sheet around, I wouldn’t have noticed it. There was sticky residue on the sink counter, and stuff in the corners of the ice bucket tray showed it hadn’t been washed in a while. This may sound picky, but I splurged for a nice room. The $60 rooms we’ve stayed in were in better shape. They didn’t have a jacuzzi, though, and that was lovely.

The TV was okay once I figured it out, and the shower was good. The beds need to be thrown out: they’re rock hard and very uneven. Those cheap, crummy pillows can go in the dumpster too.
