Sleep Inn Columbia Airport

This was a budget-friendly option, and the rooms and bedding were clean. You can tell it’s an older hotel that’s been converted, with some cosmetic work done, but the hallway carpets are pretty worn. I saw a few people hanging around who looked questionable. It’s on Airport Rd, which isn’t the best area, though I never really heard the planes despite being in the airport flight path. My room door didn’t close well, but it did lock. The breakfast area was so small it got crowded, so I went two doors down to waffle house instead. That was convenient. There aren’t nicer restaurants nearby, so we had to drive a bit. I’d rate it more like 3.5 stars.

The lobby was clean and updated, and the front desk person was super helpful and knowledgeable. From the outside, the hotel looked maintained, and the room itself was updated. But once we went in, the only clean parts were the walls and ceiling. The carpet was filthy. One of the things in the photos is a contact lens. When we pulled out the desk chair, there was another contact lens on the seat, plus little bits of unidentifiable stuff all over the carpet. As a cleaner, how do you miss objects that big on the carpet or chair? We chose this place because of the recent good reviews. We won’t stay here again, and I’m thinking we should get some kind of reimbursement. Please do better, folks.

The first two days, the bathroom ventilator smelled like tobacco or drugs. The door wouldn’t close properly, we found two roaches on the floor and a spider, and the bed I slept in was broken. The food wasn’t good and made me sick, and the service was poor. There was an old man who was rude and made my key card stop working. He got on my nerves. The cleaning lady stole some of my clothes. I have more to say, but I’d rather not. Unless you’re homeless or broke, I 100% recommend you don’t stay here. This hotel is absolutely disgusting.

Breakfast had a good selection and was really good. The front desk attendant was very friendly, and the room was clean. The shower was a nice first-time experience, and it was a nice overnight stay.
