Sheraton West Des Moines Hotel

The restaurant staff were friendly and accommodating, and there was plenty of parking. My room had a queen bed and a couch, and it was clean and comfortable. I could faintly hear the indoor waterfall, which I found relaxing, though I can see it bothering some people.

We were here for a football tournament. The room had a fridge and microwave, but it was just okay, and we found used hygiene products in it. Gross! We were first given a room with one king bed and no sofa, even though we had four people and needed two queens. The staff were kind but direct, and kids need to stay with adults. Breakfast had a lot of options, which helped make the high price more bearable. The fitness area was thoughtfully laid out and organized, but the pool was frigid. I wouldn't recommend it. One nice thing: after the bar closed, management let our group use an event space to keep socializing.

The regular staff were welcoming, and the room service staff were nice, but management was miserable to deal with. The hotel's bookstore restaurant bar may have been the worst service I've ever had, and the food wasn't good either. The elevators couldn't handle the number of guests. Bad experience overall.

I’ve stayed here three or four times over the past year as a longtime Bonvoy Titanium member, and the restaurant and bar staff have consistently been excellent. Lounge service has been great, too. This last visit was different when it came to management. After checkout, I got a revised invoice charging me $10 a night for four nights of parking. I’d never been billed for parking here before. I tried calling the manager to ask about it, but the front desk said, “he’s never at his desk, so just leave a message.” I left one and heard nothing back. I tried again the next day and got the same result. If the property no longer values my business, I’m happy to go elsewhere. Still, I expect the courtesy of a returned phone call.
