Quality Inn Royle

The room smelled strongly of old smoke, even though the place advertised smoke-free rooms and had a desk sign warning of a $250 fine for smoking. I told the desk staff how bad it was and said I didn’t want to be charged that penalty. He just said, “Oh.” He did give us room spray when I asked, but it didn’t help, and nobody offered to move us. We went out for the evening, came back around 11:30, and couldn’t sleep because of the smell. We left at about 2 a.m. At checkout I explained the problem to another staff member, who didn’t apologize either. It was a horrible experience. I’d like a refund, and I won’t stay at another Quality Inn Royale.

The rooms feel about 20 years old, with dated outlets that short out or don’t work, and nothing gets fixed. The mattresses, sheets, and pillowcases are stained. During the months I’ve stayed here, they’ve taken the trash and changed the towels about once a week, but never swept or mopped. There’s pubic hair on the shower curtains, and when I asked for one to be changed, it never happened. They don’t even have a vacuum, just a push sweeper. Our parent company makes us stay here to keep their work. It’s basically an oilfield slum home, so please stay away.

The shower and bathroom are the best I’ve had at any hotel or motel, and this is the best motel I’ve experienced in the Choice system. I come back with my family when we visit western PA, and the rooms seem nicer each time, with good materials in the renovations. Breakfast is always hot and fresh, and they do a great job with it. I’d call it the best motel in PA.

Loved the blueish wood stain, and the candle was a nice touch. The room was really cute and smelled good. I also liked that the soaps and lotion came in full-size bottles instead of minis. There was a refrigerator and microwave too.
