88 Palms Hotel & Event Center

I was able to walk everywhere I needed to go, and room 630 was better than 130. Still, I won't be back. In 130, there was no hot water, the toilet wouldn't flush, the HDMI port didn't work, and the phone cord kept coming out so I couldn't finish a call to the front desk. The speakerphone was broken too. We were moved to 630, even though they said the hotel was sold out, and the front desk asked if I wanted to switch as if I wanted to stay with a toilet that wouldn't flush. It was only a day trip, and it was just 9 p.m. The customer service was really poor. While I was waiting to raise my issues, an older woman asked for two pillows. The clerk said housekeeping wasn't available and she'd have to wait until morning. I offered two pillows from my room since we had two beds and didn't need them, but the clerk looked irritated and told the woman she'd bring them down herself. The elevator was dirty, and the whole hotel smelled bad. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I'm not exaggerating or lying.

The leak ruined our belongings. After a day at a conference for my daughter's genetic disorder, we came back to find our suitcase, carry-on, toys, clothes, and coloring books soaked. We took photos and called downstairs, but were told there was no manager. We went down in person and were promised a call that night. No one called. A maintenance man did come by, confirmed it was a bad rain leak, and said the carpet was completely saturated. Dirty, discolored water came up through the carpet onto our feet. He asked us to stay one more night, and we did. It rained again, and water covered the entire side of the room. We stepped into it as soon as we got out of bed. The next morning we spoke with Kay, who is supposedly a manager but apparently can't do anything. She was rude and disrespectful, with an attitude that seemed meant to make us leave. She offered to move us even though we were checking out in an hour, and claimed she'd offered us a room change the night before, which didn't happen. No one contacted us. She also offered to dry-clean our suitcases, clothes, and toys when we were leaving to catch a flight. I started crying over the awful stay, the leak, and how uncaring she was. She said there was nothing else she could do, and that the manager had a birthday and couldn't speak to us until TUESDAY. After checkout, as we waited in the lobby to pack the car, Kay made loud sarcastic comments about our stay to another employee. I've never dealt with staff this disrespectful or been unable to reach a manager who could help. There were bugs in the bathroom, and room service came only once in four days. We were told we couldn't get two extra pillows for my 4-year-old, and had to go to the lobby to ask for fresh towels. Those things were minor beside the leak. This hotel needs to rethink how it handles serious problems. Please don't stay here.

Room 410 had three giant cockroaches that I've seen so far, and I have pictures of them and the filth. There was a huge stain on the bedsheet, marks on the floor and furniture, and a smoky smell in the room. I told the front desk, but they couldn't move me because every room was booked. This isn't acceptable. I'd really appreciate a refund.

The guest attendants were great, but I can't recommend the place unless you're in a serious pinch. The parking lot was beat up, the outlets looked sketchy, and the fridge defrosted onto the floor. In the room, the tub had no drain plug, a nasty mat, and a side that was caving in so you could see the floor underneath. There was water damage by the window and rust on the bed sconces. The bathroom was rusty and falling apart too. There was blood on the towels and stains on the bedding. Any price is too much for this.
