Homewood Suites West Palm Beach

We arrived with my family at about 6 pm and checked into room 101. The smell of freshly fried fish was overwhelming, strong enough to notice in the hallway. It didn’t seem like an old or faint odor, but like someone had been cooking it just hours before. In the kitchen there were grease stains all over the stove, the walls around it, and the air duct. The room clearly hadn’t been properly cleaned or aired out after cooking. I asked immediately for another room, but was told this was the last one available. They said maintenance would clean it. The maintenance visit was rushed and low quality. The odor remained and the kitchen was still dirty. My family was already settled and exhausted, so I went out, bought cleaning supplies, and did the cleaning myself. That’s not something anyone should have to do after paying for a hotel. I would have switched hotels if there had been another option closer to the airport. We stayed because of the location and lack of nearby availability, not because the problem was fixed. When I asked the cleaner whether the kitchen had been used before we arrived, his tone changed right away, which made me question the honesty and accountability. This goes beyond inconvenience. A room with visible grease that smells like fresh fried food shouldn’t be assigned to a family. It felt careless and unprofessional, and left me worried about the property’s hygiene standards. The whole experience was stressful, frustrating, and completely avoidable. I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless management takes cleanliness and guest concerns seriously.

Breakfast was delicious, and the location and service were very good. I have a leg injury, so I appreciated being placed in a room near the elevator. That was thoughtful. The fitness center is quite small for a hotel this size, and the shower pressure was very weak.

The room was clean, but we wouldn’t stay here again. We booked a one-bedroom suite, and ours was only a few feet from a busy road. Traffic noise came through the wall-mounted A/C-heater, which was loud even on its lowest setting. The hotel was full, so there weren’t other options. A courtyard room we asked about was somewhat quieter from the road, but it wasn’t a suite, and hallway noise still came through its door. You could also hear the ice machine down the hall. The property seemed popular with hospital visitors, which is fine, but it made the place feel busy and consistently noisy. The hallway outside our room smelled like weed. The bathroom faucet was too short for the sink. Water hit near the front edge, so washing your hands meant splashing water onto the counter. If noise bothers you, bring earplugs or consider another place. The Marriott next door looked newer and might be quieter.

I stayed from 2/15 through 2/20. Because I don’t like elevators, the receptionist helped me get a first-floor room at check-in. Anna, the cook, made a different breakfast each day and showed excellent hospitality every time. Please send her to other locations to help raise their service. Thank you all.
