10/10
Restaurants and shops are close enough to walk to, and being dog friendly was pretty great. The rooms were clean and stocked, and everyone on staff was helpful and kind. I had a really comfortable, easy stay at Candlewood and enjoyed it. I asked for a room with a view of The City of Reading, and the gentlemen at the front desk made it happen. If I return to Reading, I’ll stay here again.

For the price, a lot went right, and the awful smelling, bad tasting tap water was a fairly small issue by comparison. The room was very nice, the price was great, and I slept well in a comfy bed.

The staff were incredibly nice and even pointed me to a good place for dinner. The beds were extremely comfortable, though the furniture does look dated, which seems a fair description. I wasn't sure what to expect after seeing some mixed recent reviews, but the place was fine. It's not a Four Seasons, though you're not paying for one. The shower is my one real gripe. The water pressure and hot water could both be better. Maybe I was in there around 7am while lots of other people were showering, but the water was lukewarm at best. That's why I can't give five stars. Still, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

The kitchenette was a highlight, and I had a great time. The bed was a little too soft, but I'd definitely stay again.

I picked this place because it allows pets, but I wouldn't recommend it if you actually want to walk your dog. There's a spot for them to relieve themselves, I guess, but not much room for a walk, not even around the block unless you're up for a workout. There's an incline you'll feel.
