Hampton Inn West Valley Salt Lake City

I don’t usually write reviews, but Lily at the front desk really deserves a mention. I came in after a bad phone call, already expecting the day to get worse, and her warmth completely changed my mood. She made me feel like someone cared and meant what they said. We didn’t talk much, but her smile and the way she treated me helped me feel human for once. It was a stranger showing real care to someone she didn’t know. I’ve stayed here before, but this was my first time meeting her. Everyone at the front desk should bring that kind of service. If Lily’s work goes unnoticed, I wanted people to know she’s awesome. I’ll definitely come back more often. I’m not going to complain about petty things; we’re all just trying to get through the day. Thanks, Hampton, for hiring her. If you’re looking for a place to stay, choose this one.

The room was very clean, the bed and linens were comfortable and fresh, and there were plenty of Wi-Fi outlets. Check-in was smooth, and the front desk clerk was cordial. The hotel’s in a nice area, with shopping and restaurants nearby, including Target within walking distance and a Black Bear Diner. Breakfast was average at best. The oatmeal was watery, and turkey sausage isn’t my preference. My biggest issue was the omelets, which all had cheese, green and red chili's. Not everyone wants chilies in their omelet. Why not make half plain cheese and half with the chilies? I’m sure most kids won’t eat omelets with red and green chilies.

The staff were accommodating: they offered to move us and spoke to the people above us several times, though the response was just, “I'll try.” That room’s kids kept running around, stomping, going up and down the hall, and knocking on doors before running away. My wife and I were trying to sleep for two hours through all of it. That’s why I couldn’t give five stars. Control your children.

Everything else was good: the property and rooms were very clean, breakfast was more than adequate, and the pool and working hot tub were nice, which is rare these days. There’s plenty of shopping and dining within walking distance too. The desk staff are my only complaint. They seemed very disengaged. Every time I went to the desk, it felt awkward because nobody acknowledged me, so I always had to start the conversation.
