Best Western Burlington Inn

The location is probably the strongest thing about this hotel, and the staff were attentive when I had two problems. There aren’t many choices nearby, though, and this may be the second best option. A Hilton Garden Inn is close, presumably better, but costs quite a bit more, so keep the low price in mind. Even with the bed being okay and enough power and USB outlets by the bed and desk, the room had worn furniture, torn carpet, sloppy bathroom repairs, an old partly broken heating and AC unit with no separate thermostat, and an inadequate, not entirely clean shower. The whole place smelled of smoke despite the no-smoking policy. I had to leave the first room right away because someone had clearly smoked in it earlier that day, and the lobby and hallways smelled too. There was a thick plastic barrier at reception that says a lot about the place. I suspect many guests are government funded, and police were there during my one-night stay, so it may be a repeat stop for them. I’m surprised Wyndham lets this place use its name. Even on its best day, in perfect lighting, it’s a two-star hotel. I booked because Google listed it as three stars, which is nowhere close.

Elizabeth deserves a mention. She seems to do a bit of everything, helping people wherever she’s needed, and she’s one of the kindest people I’ve met. Always smiling, too. The room was very clean, the hallways smelled good, and the complimentary continental breakfast was a nice extra. I had a great stay at Baymont by Wyndham. Excellent service.

This seems more suited to a road trip stop when there’s no other choice than a vacation stay. It’s handy to have stores nearby, but the place looks like it’s struggling. We came back because our stay last year was decent, including the breakfast, but this time breakfast wasn’t as good. The room itself was nice and the bathroom was okay, though there was a poop stain in the toilet when we first opened the bathroom door. The heat didn’t work no matter what I tried, and the vending machine was broken.

In the morning, two people woke us up arguing in the parking lot about payment for services. This place just keeps on giving. I posted this review too soon at first because I was upset that our car got damaged and we couldn’t sleep. There’s a huge hole in the parking lot that was full of water from melted snow, and it messed up our bumper. When we told the woman at the front desk, she acted as if she didn’t know it was there. The hotel smelled strongly of weed at the entrance, and the rooms had a funky odor. The front desk person sits behind bulletproof glass. They carefully framed the website photos to make it less noticeable, but this doesn’t feel like a safe area. This place is a dump.
