La Quinta Inn & Suites Lake Charles - Westlake

The front desk staff were all great, and the common areas were clean. My room, 221, had been cleaned and smelled good too. But the sheets and towels felt cheap and need replacing. The toilet stopped working around 8 p.m. Friday. I requested maintenance twice, and they didn’t come until after 9. Water barely trickled from the bathroom sink, and the elevator was very slow. Breakfast was just okay. They put a $50 incidental hold on my card, and in my opinion they should give me a $50 “we’re sorry” credit. I stayed April 17-19, 2026. Unfortunately, not all “LAQUINTAS” are the same.

The noise was there day and night, a loud, rhythmic thump inside the walls, like the sound in Jumanji when something bad is about to happen. I couldn’t get a decent night’s sleep. The water pressure was terrible at both the sink and shower. The breakfast buffet felt like a lawsuit waiting to happen. Coffee and juice machines had spilled liquid everywhere. We told the front desk, and the guy looked at it, told another worker, then walked away. Nobody cleaned it or put out a wet floor sign. There was also a sign saying you’d be charged for taking food to your room. Is that even a thing? Do not stay here, y’all, unless you want to fall and get paid.

The rooms were nice, though not nicer than their price warrants. This place needs an attentive manager to get things in order. The side entrance doesn’t close, much less lock, so security is shot. If you want milk, you have to ask them to fetch it from the back and pour it for you. And the biscuits were as hard as hockey pucks.

While searching for my keys, I came across a box of lubricant. That says a lot about how well the rooms are cleaned. I also waited 10 minutes for the receptionist to come to the front counter. Someone had to shout for her, and it turned out she was on her phone in the stairwell.
