The sheets still didn't look clean after washing, and the showers were covered in mildew. The hotel is full of roaches, too. They say pets are welcome, but apparently you have to take your pet with you every time you leave the room. Am I supposed to bring him to work with me?

We had a good stay. The property and room were clean, the staff were very friendly, and there was no pet fee for our dog. For the price, what more do you need? My only gripe wasn't with the hotel itself, but with the parent company's reservation system. It showed an unexplained extra charge of almost $50. When I asked, I was told it was taxes and fees. I hung up and booked at the advertised rate through Expedia, which I detest.

I slept well here and had no trouble during my stay. Some reviews mention railroad noise, but I didn't hear any. It's not fancy or a resort, but for a budget hotel I'd recommend it and stay again if I were passing through. The room was clean and comfortable, with nice pillows and linens. It had an iron and ironing board, TV, wardrobe, and enough outlets. The bathroom had decent towels, a hair dryer, and basic toiletries. The mini fridge worked, and although I bring my own travel kettle and pour-over coffee maker, there was also something in the room for making coffee. Breakfast was free and the usual basic continental kind. The location is handy, right off I-10 on LA 397, which Google Maps calls E Ward Line Rd, on the east side of Lake Charles near Chennault Intl. Airport. You can walk to a Mexican restaurant and a small casino, but you'll need to drive for anything else. The parking lot was well lit; I had no issues, though I'd keep valuables out of sight. Staff were friendly and helpful in the evening and morning, including while I made my way around the tiling crew. I booked through Expedia and had no problems. The lobby and breakfast area were being retiled when I visited. It's good to see the owners investing in the place, and I imagine the work is done by now and looks great. Pets are allowed, with a pet area beside the pool. The pool needed attention during my visit, maybe because it was off season. The exercise room isn't much of a gym, so walking to the casino might do more for you. I walked to the Mexican restaurant and probably canceled out any health benefits from that walk.

The bed was hard and the pillows were flat, so I didn't sleep well. There was no TV service, and the coffee maker was in the bathroom without a pod holder. The room smelled musty when we opened the door, even though it had fresh paint, and the racks were rusty. Loud music in the lobby made check-in difficult. It seemed to be coming from the employee's family and friends.
