Over two weeks after I opened a corporate case, Marriott’s best response was to lower the rate back to what I’d originally booked. I hope the corporate team and property management make serious improvements. I’ve stayed at hundreds of Marriott properties, and this was easily my worst service experience. I’d avoid this place. The trouble started the day before we arrived, when Director of Sales Nalini Dube asked me to cancel my reservation for 5k points because the hotel was oversold. I’d booked two rooms six weeks ahead, so that was frustrating and unprofessional. I went in at 1 PM on arrival day to confirm both rooms. Kayra said they were still available and that someone would call when they were ready. Nobody called. At 5 PM, when I phoned for an update, Cassandra hung up on me. When I finally checked in at 11 PM, I was told there was only one room for our group of four. The front desk associate was polite, but seemed to have no authority to fix it. On top of that, my rate had gone from $162 to $272 with no explanation. Two days later, Nalini Dube emailed to offer 8k points, which felt pathetic, and said nothing about the rate change. For comparison, a Saturday night there costs 48k points. General Manager Rashel Davy also emailed an apology for any inconvenience and said she hoped I’d return. There was no compensation offered, and she never replied when I answered her email. I opened a case with Marriott corporate the night this happened. The service and communication were unacceptable, and I’ve never seen this much disorganization or lack of accountability at a Marriott.

With close to 70 days of travel this year, Jonathan gave me the best hotel customer service I’ve had all year. He paid close attention to what my family needed and went above and beyond to accommodate us. Amazing service from him.

The location worked well for our son’s lacrosse event, but that was the only real upside. We stay at Marriott properties often and expect better than this. We wouldn’t return. We spent eight nights in a two-room suite and were extremely disappointed. The first suite had a strong vomit smell that made us nauseous. The front desk associate kindly moved us right away, though a housekeeping employee came in while we were packing and tried to wave away the smell by pointing at carpet spray. We were moved to an accessible suite that was much smaller and awkwardly arranged. The oversized bathroom took space from the living and sleeping areas. There were only three dining chairs, one of them blocking the bathroom door, no desk, one fewer dresser, and hardly any room around the king bed. The shower bench and grab bars were visibly dirty. The whole property felt poorly maintained. Hallways, stairwells, and the laundry room were dirty, and the same debris and dead roach stayed on the stairs for days. Our suite had stained furniture and a worn blanket. The pool area had only two chairs and no pool towels. Staff told us to use white bath towels and leave wet ones outside our room. The water looked dirty, so even in warm weather we didn't let our son swim and drove 30 minutes to the beach instead. The kitchen was missing basic things: there was one set of dishes and silverware, but no large knife, sheet pans, or cheese grater, and the sponge was used. We bought supplies ourselves and had to wash dishes by hand after every meal. The TV had no cable, smart features, or streaming, and even ABC, NBC, and FOX weren’t available. Breakfast was decent, though they stopped refilling items early. Around 11 a.m., while I was waiting for laundry, I was asked to leave a table near the breakfast area. That laundry room was unsanitary, with dead roaches on the floor. It also seemed like many people lived there long term. Some doors had signs saying not to clean, there were piles of delivery packages behind the desk, and residents had personal belongings outside. During our stay, sheriffs came by several times, including a medical examiner. One officer said that wasn't unusual. It was hard not to feel that short-term guests paid premium rates for the same subpar conditions.

The hotel’s location near Weston Town center was why I stayed. It has excellent restaurants and places to walk, but each morning I woke with a sore throat and breathing problems because the room was stuffy and dusty. The room smelled awful, dusty and as if there had been an electrical fire. In the bathroom, a piece of plastic, apparently the top layer of cheap tile, stuck up from the floor, and I tripped on it often. The path toward breakfast consistently smelled like wet dogs or something similar, so I never ate there. At the desk, the woman didn't even look up when I came in. Luckily, my partner had arrived earlier and left me a key. I stayed a week. Other guests seemed sick, perhaps patients getting treatment at nearby Cleveland clinic. Late at night or early in the morning I could hear people coughing uncontrollably or retching loudly. That was disturbing, especially since the only elevator is very small and obviously not ventilated. Housekeeping staff were friendly but inefficient. When I asked for clean towels, one woman handed me a bundled handful. I had to insist she take the dirty towels too. Hard to believe this is a Marriott, and a Marriott in WESTON, NO LESS!

It was a shame, because the young woman who usually worked mornings was lovely, and there was a pleasant young man too. But I left feeling scarred, sitting in my car crying from emotional distress. I was here for a couple of weeks and kept seeing my charges come out higher than the price I had reserved. I'm a Titanium member. When I asked, I was told the manager said I wasn't being charged enough. I went to speak with Patric Bewley, and he was rude, loud, and aggressive. He kept interrupting me. When I asked to speak, he said he could interrupt me if he didn't want to hear what I had to say, then started yelling. His manner suddenly softened and he stopped talking when another guest walked into the lobby. It felt like he was willing to yell at me when there were no witnesses or a man there to protect me. He put his hands in my face and everything. How can someone employ a person like that and think it's acceptable? Stay away.
