Super 8 Motel - Wheeling

The staff are exceptionally friendly and clearly work hard to keep the place spotless. I had a welcoming, honest chat with the manager, who wasn’t pushy or overly chatty. The franchise owner works incredibly hard, often covering shifts and being around. You can tell he sets standards by example. The place is clean and efficient, with a simple, down-to-earth elegance and no extravagance.

The room wasn’t the worst, but the front desk service was at the bottom of the list of lower-end hotels I’ve stayed in. We dealt with two people, and both were terrible: one was incompetent, the other rude and extremely unhelpful. We only needed basic help and couldn’t get it. Once we waited at the desk for 15 minutes with no one appearing or answering the phone marked “call for assistance.” Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.

I tried to book two nights, but the guy at the front desk tried to take $129.58 from me and refused to refund it. I had to call the police. Do NOT go here. Saint Clairsville has better hotels, with better breakfasts, and they don’t steal from customers like this place does. This place sucks and is run by con artists.

The fees were fine, and the place was okay for cleanliness. The light didn’t work, the cable was out, and the neighbors were loud.
