The mini-fridge and microwave in the nice room were useful, and having a washer and dryer on site was convenient. The staff are professional, polite, and courteous, so I feel comfortable staying here. Super 8 by Wyndham in Fairmont, WV has been a blessing in disguise when I needed a place for business travel.

I used to really love this hotel and stayed about once a month to see family. After my latest visit, they charged me $80 the next day and said I’d taken all the bathroom linens. I’d handed them to the housekeeper in the hallway a day or two earlier because we had a lot of them. The person on the phone was rude and kept insisting I’d taken everything, even though I tried to explain. I felt like it might have been racially motivated because of how meanly I was treated. Once my husband explained, they said they were processing a refund. They’d usually been so nice to us, even giving my husband cupcakes, but now it feels like that kindness was fake. Then they tried to charge us again. I filed a police report for theft, and now they admit I gave the linens to housekeeping. They’re claiming they gave me a new set, including a bath mat, that I stole, which is ridiculous. It’s awful to have a wonderful vacation end this way because they can’t admit their mistake.

The staff are what make this place for me. They treat you like family and make you feel like you’re their main concern. I’ve stayed at hotels all over the United States, and in my 50 years I’ve never felt this way about a staff before. I’m Diamond status with IHG, Platinum with Wyndham, and a Hilton Coin Club member, so I’ve stayed in a lot of places. I can honestly rate this Super 8 a 5 Star Hotel. Over the last 4 years, they’ve cleaned the hotel up. I was close to never coming back, but gave it one last try and was surprised by the improvements and staff changes. People focus on the building, but good staff help you sleep and relax even if the room or property isn’t perfect. This review says a lot, since I’ve never been able to write something like this before.

Don’t expect the kind of breakfast you’d get at the Holiday Inn. If you’re staying more than a few days, you’ll need to ask about having the room cleaned and getting fresh towels.

I liked the hotel until this happened. I gave the towels to the housekeeper one morning along with my bedding and didn’t get any back, but then I was charged $80 and accused of taking them. When I called, they accused me right away, were rude, and didn’t believe me. They said they’d investigate, then hung up. I still haven’t received the promised call back or an apology. The housekeeping mix-up seems pretty clear: the safe still had food and drinks left by the previous guest. Three weeks later, they tried charging my wife’s card another $80 even after they supposedly cleared things up on the phone.
