Hampton Inn White House

The rooms were really clean, the beds super comfortable, and they provided everything needed for the bathroom. Breakfast in the lobby was fabulous, with eggs, sausage, potatoes, waffles, oatmeal, cereal, toast, bagels, muffins, and more. The attendants were so kind and made wonderful coffee. The daytime desk attendant was also very kind and moved me to another room when the elevator was still broken the next morning. They even refunded some money for the inconvenience. I’d recommend this place and stay again, though a few things went wrong. I was in town for a special occasion and booked through a website for my first Hampton Inn stay. It warned that construction would finish by November 30th, but it hadn’t. I was assured the work wouldn’t bother me at night, and since I was on the 3rd floor, I thought it would be okay. The first night the elevator broke, and the nighttime attendant was rude and told me to take the stairs. I have a disability in my legs and had no choice but to climb three flights.

The staff were wonderful, and I felt safe throughout our two-night staycation with my dog. The room was simple and comfortable, clean, and had no concerns like bed bugs or odors. I think it was partly renovated, not fully. Breakfast had a little variety each day, and the coffee was fresh. There was construction going on, so there was some trash in the hallway and a spill in the elevator. Hopefully those will be sorted out once the work is done and things are more routine. They also had a small gym, laundry, and pool, though I didn’t use them. A solid, comfortable choice, especially if you’re traveling with a pet.

There’s a sports field right behind the hotel, and there seemed to be a lot of families, so evenings could get pretty noisy. We stayed in the first-floor suite with a jetted tub, which felt like an old ballroom converted into a room, with very high ceilings and quite an echo. The hotel was nice, though it’s in the middle of a major renovation.

I booked one of their two whirlpool suites for two nights, but on the third morning a staff member came up to me at continental breakfast and rudely asked for my name and room number. I explained both three times, then had to go to the front desk with that staff member and speak to someone else who recognized me from the previous two nights. It seemed like the first person thought I was eating without authorization. I couldn’t believe it. I’ve always had great customer service at Hilton properties, and I don’t know why I was interrogated while eating or why the desk staff couldn’t clear it up before I had to go prove I was a guest.
