The Roosevelt Hotel

The rooms were spotless, and the bedding was so comfortable. It was quiet, clean, and cozy, with no odd smells or bugs. The staff were super nice, too. I’m traveling across the country to visit National Parks on a budget, so I don’t expect much from places I book, but this was one of my favorite stays and a real gem for the price. It’s a very small town and feels off the grid, so there aren’t many food choices nearby. If you drive about 20 minutes in either direction, though, there are some good options. It’s also close to Teddy Roosevelt NP. I’d definitely recommend staying here!

The room was fairly clean, and it smelled much better than the lobby and hallway, which had a strong mix of smoke and another unpleasant odor. By the next morning the hallway seemed better, though maybe I’d just gotten used to it. There wasn’t anything fancy about the room. I picked this place because there weren’t other hotels for quite a few miles. Check-in was a little difficult because I couldn’t find the desk clerk, and they charge an extra $50 for a pet. It’s okay if you’re in a bind, but I wouldn’t recommend it if you have another option.

The breakfast was a big plus, especially since there aren’t many places to choose from nearby, and I liked being close to the national park. The blonde woman was extremely kind and helpful, and the gentleman was helpful too. Another woman seemed lost and needed to ask for help with everything. It’s a cheap motel, so you get what you pay for and shouldn’t expect much. The cigarette smell in the lobby and hallways was really bad, but thankfully it didn’t reach the rooms.

Best stay of the trip. The rooms were really nice, and the staff were the best. Jeri Lynn was terrific, and the manager with the puppy dog was just as friendly and helpful. They’re two of the place’s best assets.
