Roman Holiday Motel

These are privately owned condos, maybe around 60 of them, so your stay may depend on the owner. We didn't get lucky. My wife had to clean our room when we arrived, though we didn't complain. At bedtime, we found large patches of sand under the sheets, and the mattress sank so badly in the middle that we couldn't sleep in the bed. Alyssa, who works there, witnessed it. Both beds had sand, and Dan, the manager, wouldn't come look. He said he'd tell the owner, but he was no help. He was nice until we raised the bed issues, then became ignorant. The grounds are cared for, and the staff are professional and helpful. But room 104 is in terrible shape. The cabinets are breaking, and there's a huge gap between the front door and its frame. A picture had fallen off the wall and was left in a drawer. There's only one air conditioner for the whole place, so the bedroom door has to stay open to cool the other room. Other rooms looked well kept and decorated. Avoid room 104.

I drove to Roman holiday yesterday and paid over $10 to park for maybe an hour. I wasn't even there 45 minutes before leaving. It already costs way too much, and there's always a problem if I want to come down for a night while my husband and son are there for seven days. I'm lucky if I can stay overnight without hearing about it, and my husband doesn't help at all. If I'd been able to stay that night, I wouldn't have had to drive straight into the storm. For some reason GPS sent me over the b. Franklin Bridge, more than 10 miles out of the way. I usually go over and come back on the Commodore Barry Bridge, so I'm not sure what happened. And heaven forbid you hang a wet towel on your own balcony railing, they'll make a fuss, while charging you to wash and making money because you can't dry your towels.

We spent three nights here, two adults and two kids, and were comfortable. The place is clean and well maintained, the staff are friendly, the pool is great, and parking was easy. It's across the street from the beach, with plenty of families around and an easy walk to the boardwalk. We'd go again.
