The Viking Motel

The place was very clean, the housekeepers were sweet, and the vacationers were nice. It’s family oriented and close to the beach, though it needs updating. The towels are rough, the blankets are paper thin, and the pillows are horrible. Getting up to the third floor was tough, especially carrying our belongings. You get what you pay for.

The friendly cleaning lady was the one staff member I liked. The rest seemed miserable and rude, and they kicked out an elderly couple in their 70s at 10 pm, which was completely unacceptable. This is a place to just sleep, not somewhere I’d recommend for a vacation or for bringing children. The rooms are extremely outdated, and there are no outlets to plug things into. One room of ours didn’t even lock, and none of the doors had a peephole or an inside security lock. There’s no music allowed at all. The pool area closes at 7 pm, so you can’t use the pool or grill after that. If you smoke or vape, you have to go all the way out to your car.

It’s easy to pop back to the room from the beautiful, clean, family friendly beach, which is just a block away. The Viking is our favorite for the price: clean rooms, a well maintained pool, grills for cooking, and friendly cleaning staff. They put out coffee, cookies, and iced tea in the morning, so you can stay in if you want. Ice costs 25 cents. It’s easy on the budget.

Steve and crew made our stay relaxing and comfortable. They work hard to make guests feel at home. One block from the beach, and about 1 mi from the main boardwalk attractions, with some ocean view from the upper floors. The rooms were well maintained, and both the sheets and shower towels were clean. The cleaning was impeccable. I even saw a cleaning lady collecting trash in the parking lot early in the morning. The pool was clear and impeccably clean, with seagulls coming by to spend some time with us. This is a smoke free place, and they don’t allow music in the rooms, so it stays quiet and peaceful for a good night’s sleep, something hard to find around there.
