Aldrich House Bed & Breakfast

The owners’ care shows up in the small details, from the decor to the homemade breakfasts. The food felt thoughtfully made and was served with real warmth. Aldrich House has a strong sense of history without giving up everyday comforts. The rooms are spacious and carefully arranged, with period details and private bathrooms. Historical artwork and the home’s preserved character make the place feel rooted in its past. What stayed with me most was the feeling of being welcomed into a lived-in story. The gracious owners bring a personal touch that makes this feel like more than a place to sleep. It’s an intimate, memorable way to experience Williamsburg, especially if you enjoy history or a romantic getaway. I recommend it wholeheartedly.

The room had nice sheets and a comfortable bed, but the shower needs attention: there was mold around the rod and the tub drained poorly. I also wish coffee or tea were available beyond the pot set out at 7 a.m. before breakfast. The host was friendly when we arrived. After we said the 8:30 breakfast was later than we preferred, though, there wasn’t any more interaction. The location is convenient for Williamsburg, and Sweethaven Lavender of Williamsburg farm is a pretty 30-minute drive away. We stay in B&Bs often, and this one wasn’t a favorite compared with others.

We stayed in the Lewis room, which was comfortable, in a very elegant and clean house. The owners were welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was tasty every morning, especially the sausage gravy and biscuits. The location worked really well too: we could walk to Colonial Williamsburg, and the outlets and Busch Gardens were less than a 15-minute drive away.

Tom knows his history and will happily answer questions. I’d recommend the tour option. The owners are friendly, warm, and have lived in Williamsburg a long time. You also can’t beat the location. This was my first proper bed-and-breakfast stay, and I loved it. The home was beautifully furnished in a Colonial Williamsburg style. Breakfast was much better than what I’ve had at a typical hotel. I took a short trip with my elderly Granddad, and he said he preferred the B&B to a hotel room.
