The Colonies at Williamsburg

The staff were amazing, attentive, and helpful. Our winter stay was only one night, though, and we had problems in both units. The first was cold because of a bad thermostat, so we had to move. In the second, the hot water ran out right away and the kids couldn’t take a bath. The decor feels dated to the 90s, though maybe that’s fitting for Williamsburg. There’s also an extra resort fee, so my rating reflects that one night.

The location puts you right in the middle of everything, and I really like the layout of the two-bedroom units. The rooms are comfortable, though a bit dated and in need of some maintenance.

The kitchen is roomy, the beds are comfortable, and the rooms are clean and spacious. The shower’s big enough for two. I’m very satisfied with the stay and will definitely book here again soon.

The Maryland court room was great, and we had a quiet, comfortable stay. Everything was clean, and since it’s a timeshare, the cooking utensils, cookware, towels, and other things you need were ready at check-in. The representative and maintenance staff were friendly, professional, and pleasant. I do have several safety and upkeep suggestions. Room 18A’s ceiling needs attention, as it could be mold or a water leak. The extra door chain should be replaced, the walls repainted, and the heavy curtains removed in case of fire. A fire extinguisher and a sprinkler system above the room should be considered. Please check the phones, since the lines don’t work and families can’t call out in an emergency. Cameras for visitor safety inside and outside might also be considered. The stairs are narrow and difficult to use, so a new ramp would help. There’s no emergency exit for families on the second floor, which could leave them trapped in a fire or other emergency.
