Red Roof Inn PLUS+ Chicago - Willowbrook

I came back hoping for a little nostalgia after making a lot of memories here with my car club decades ago. More than 20 years back, I stayed often, and the rooms were clean, the area was nice, prices were right, and there weren't shady people around. This time, in room 219, the bathroom mold was unbelievable. I took pictures. The room smelled bad, and the furniture looked like it hadn't changed since my last visit. I also found bedbug droppings, though I didn't mention those or the mold to the man at the desk. I did tell him that someone had been banging on my door less than 10-15 minutes after I arrived. I was traveling alone and had gone out to get food. He tried looking at the cameras, then gave up and said he hadn't seen anything, maybe it was someone next door. I was furious about how badly the place had been let go. It needs to be shut down and repaired. The desk said I still had to pay for that night, which I thought was a crock of crap. I found another place near Elk Grove. Red Roof, spare me the speech about being sorry my stay sucked. I've read the reviews. You haven't fixed a damn thing, so you're not sorry.

I was so uneasy I slept fully dressed on top of one of the beds. The whole place was filthy, from the walls and floor to the toilet, which still had stuff left by the previous guest. There were blue and black marks all over the walls, and the beds were only half made. My girl cat was acting really strangely and wouldn't stop kissing, so something definitely seemed off. I've stayed in plenty of hotels and motels, and this was probably the worst. It's outside Chicago, and the area looked the way you'd expect the outskirts of the city to look. Unfortunately, I only read the reviews after paying and bringing my animals in.

I was there five days, and nobody came to clean, change the bedding, or take out the garbage. I had to go to the office for soap, towels, and toilet paper, only to be told they had none. They said to take towels to the laundry room for an exchange. There were roaches all over, half the lights didn't work, and the toilet wasn't working right. The stairs stayed covered in ice and snow for three days. No room service at all.

I found bedbugs during my stay at the Red Roof Inn and woke up with several bites. It was really uncomfortable and worrying. I reported it to the front desk right away, but their response wasn't as prompt or professional as I'd expected. A room should be checked and treated before guests are put in it. Basic cleanliness and hygiene are what you expect when you book a hotel, and this stay fell short of that completely. I hope management takes it seriously and makes sure the rooms get a thorough pest inspection and cleaning so other guests don't have to deal with the same thing.
