Motel 6 Willows, CA

We were passing through California with our little dog, and this was a great place to stop. The dog area was nice, and it stayed quiet even though the motel was nearly full. Everyone on staff was completely friendly, helpful, and courteous.

I drive the I-5 corridor often, and this was the least expensive room I’ve found along it. The room was clean and roomy, and it was even a smoking room, something I’d never come across in California. The staff were really friendly, too. I left my phone and charger behind, had to return for them, and everyone was lovely about it.

A convenient place for a night while passing through, with food and gas close by. The property was clean, and the recent renovation made things feel fresh, though the work looked a little sloppy. The layout does mean noise: motel doors and windows open toward the parking spaces right outside, and the upstairs floors creaked badly. If you’re a light sleeper, ask for an upstairs room. For a Motel 6, I had a nice stay.

Cigarette smoke kept getting into my supposedly non-smoking room through the air conditioner and gaps around the door. The manager was rude and wouldn’t move me to a room that suited me better. They said they couldn’t control the smoking and wouldn’t take responsibility as innkeepers. State law requires smoking to be at least 20 feet from businesses.
