Staybridge Suites Wilmington E by IHG

For a short stay, it’s not bad once you get past the awful smell. I first thought someone had smoked in my room and asked to switch, but then realized the smell was throughout the hotel. It honestly felt like secondhand smoke. This was my first time at Staybridge. The social hour food was decent, and breakfast was a little better than at a Hampton Inn. The rooms are very outdated, but they were quiet, which was a big plus. The door at the back of the building didn’t work. I’d probably try another hotel next time I’m in the area to see if there’s something better.

The suites have plenty of space and were very clean, and the staff were kind. Breakfast was one of the best we’ve had, with scrambled eggs, cheese omelettes, delicious chicken sausage, a yogurt bar, scones, waffles, oatmeal and lots of toppings, coffee, and plenty of juice choices. The zero-calorie kiwi-strawberry juice was delicious. There were also bagels, English muffins, bread, cereal, and much more. The indoor pool was the warmest one I’ve ever been in, or wanted to go in. They were a little skimpy with towels and tissue, but overall it was a great experience.

Jillian Davis was awesome in the mornings, always a welcoming face and personality. She kept everything clean and stocked, and thanks for the fresh baked cookies, J.D. 🍪😋 Our receptionist had great energy and was the best we’ve had in a looong time. Everyone was so sweet and went above and beyond. Everything about the stay was perfect 😊

The reviews led me to expect better, but the hotel needs a serious deep clean. They allow pets, yet our room had a dog poop stain on the carpet and dog hair in the bathroom. The toilet was very dirty, and stains on the doors and walls seemed to be ignored. The kitchen and breakfast area didn’t feel hygienic, so we chose not to eat there. The coffee was very weak. I’m going to report the hotel to certifying authorities because it doesn’t meet standards.
