Calypso Inn Wilton Resort

The location is hard to beat, super close to The Drive, and I love the pool area. I had a great time at Calypso and will definitely be back. Thanks, Wes, for making the stay so enjoyable. It was nice catching up with you over dinner on my last night.

Getting through the gate was a bad start. I arrived when scheduled, but no one answered, and I waited over an hour before a part-time employee let me in. Shrubs were so overgrown that walking the uneven, broken-down paths meant branches kept hitting me. The pool was unappealing and badly overdue for draining, repairs, and replastering. Picture “Grey Gardens” with palm trees. My room was disgusting. The bed had a crumbling slay headboard and footboard, and its very old mattress sat on concrete blocks. There was only an outdoor metal cafe table and two uncomfortable chairs, no comfortable chair or sofa. A small refrigerator served as the bedside table. The lighting was terrible, and an old stove/sink combo that no longer worked took up lots of space. One morning, termite wings covered the floor around my bed and the bathroom floor. I had no housekeeping for five days. I had trouble with the safe combination. While I was away, the owner came into my room and changed the code. When I objected, he said he had recorded himself changing it on his phone. I asked who could say he hadn't stopped recording, taken what he wanted, then resumed. For the record, nothing was taken. After my vacation was ruined, I suggested Wes sell the place. The location is wonderful, and a developer will be his buyer. Book at your own risk.

The manager and other guests were very friendly, and the pool was wonderful. Our room was nice and big, with everything we needed. The interior was a little dated, but the price was hard to beat. Wilton Manor is just a few blocks away on foot. I'd definitely stay again.

The location is excellent, and the rooms look like they'd make for a great stay. Still, Calypso Inn is at the bottom of my recommendation list because of the misleading website information and the dismissive replies I got. I called recently to ask about a two-night Friday-to-Sunday stay on any weekend from January to March. They texted that several of the dates I wanted were sold out. Since that didn't answer my question, I sent back all the dates I could do, and was then told the Inn requires a minimum five-night stay on any dates. I reread the reservation policy and room rates on the website, and that information is very misleading if the minimum stay is five nights. I attached screenshots of the site and text conversation to support my claim.
